Launching LiftedViz

Welcome to the Launch of the New LiftedViz

For the past year our executive team of John and Stephanie have supported Gina’s vision for a great data visualization design studio. We are super proud to be launching our website, scheduling events and taking on customers in Q4. We’ve painted the walls, ordered tables and a kitchen, and computers, established our infrastructure, our business strategy and our mission and vision. We are super excited to get going with the work of bringing great data visualization, storytelling, and customer branded templates to the market place. We are offering what we see as a revolutionary methodology for sustainable data visualization and storytelling, consulting, and training with a great return on investment for the people that we do business with. And so without further ado, here’s a little interview with our CEO and Founder, Gina Bremer.

A Quick Q&A with our CEO

Can you tell us about your vision for LiftedViz? My vision for LiftedViz is to be leaders in the field of data visualization education. I believe that successful data visualization lives at the intersection of business, analytics, design, and storytelling. Learning any single one of these skills is valuable. Whether through our paid internships or bootcamp-style workshops, our curriculum is intended to elevate data vizzers to the next level by teaching all of these skills in a clear reusable framework. I want people to walk away from LiftedViz with a defined process and the necessary resources to create impactful reporting back at home.

Can you tell us a bit about your journey from student to leader? Like so many people I have met in the field of data visualization, I learned with the help of the community. I was offered my first job in analytics after graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in Mathematics. I quickly fell head-over-heels for Tableau and volunteered myself for every dashboarding project. When I got stuck, needed inspiration, or wanted to spend time with my fellow Tableau enthusiasts, I turned to the Seattle Tableau User Group. My leadership in the field of data visualization and storytelling began with this group and continued through starting the Bellingham Tableau User Group, speaking at both the Tableau and Tapestry Data Storytelling conferences, and recognition by Tableau as one of the first 20 Tableau Public Ambassadors. Since then, my journey has continued through being contracted with the University of Washington to teach for the Data Visualization Certificate and being featured by GeekWire as the Geek of the Week.

What are you most excited about in this next step? The first round of interns! The most rewarding experiences in my career thus far have been when helping coworkers, employees, and community members to learn the art of data visualization. I am so looking forward to work with new aspiring data vizzers to launch their careers.

announcing our LV paid internship program

Are you a STEM student with an artistic flair and the gift of gab who’s maybe considering racking up another $30,000 in student debt to do a Master’s Degree? If you are we’d like you to consider the LiftedViz paid internship in data visualization and storytelling as an alternative. We believe that if you come and work with us, you’ll be getting an education and skill set that is equal or superior to anything that you’re going to get from a Master’s degree. We’ll pay you and we’ll give you real work experience, work experience that we believe you’ll be able to leverage as you continue in your career. You’ll do data visualization and storytelling design with best in class tools including Tableau, Microsoft Power BI and Google Data Studio. You’ll learn documented processes and Agile project management to guide you through the entire design workflow from customer requirements gathering all the way through to presenting finished dashboards to customers. If that sounds good and Bellingham, Washington sounds like a fun place to come work and play, we invite you to apply on our website.
